Jebena

The coffee pot, in silhouette

Buna is not a drink anybody hands you quickly: green beans roasted in the pan, carried round the room for the smell, ground, then brewed in the jebena — round belly, long neck, straw lid — and poured from a height into small cups, three rounds, in order. This is that outline flattened to 2.8mm, the handle left open, the face scored with the lines a potter's turning leaves.
